started his scientific career within so called Zagreb Embryology School, whose main topic at this time was studying gastrulation process and germ layer differentiation in mice and rats. The experience in embryology helped him to get a postdoctoral position at Max Planck Insitute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany, at Laboratory of Prof. Peter Gruss. His second postdoctoral position was at International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Trieste, Italy, under supervision of Prof. Baralle.
Upon return to Croatia he established his independent research group with the scope of the lab focused to brain consequences of the introduced genetic modifications. Through careful and patient planning he was the main motor to organize and complete the mouse brain research platform which serves as the foundation of GlowBrain. Currently his lab is using the platform for analysis of regeneration and plasticity after ischemic brain lesion.
