During his studies he was awarded with «Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sport Scholarship» (2003-2006), «Education Council of City of Zagreb Scholarship» (2006-2007) and «Rector's Award of the University of Zagreb for student project» (2006). He did his MSc thesis, entitled «Expression Level of TLR9 Gene in Human Tumour Tissues (Lung and Hypophysis)», in the Laboratory of Molecular Oncology of the Ruder Boskovic Institute in Zagreb. In 2009 he received the «TransCard Helmholtz Research School» Fellowship to do PhD project within Humboldt University of Berlin. He did his PhD project, entitled «Spatiotemporal analysis of BMP signaling in Pancreas Versus Liver Fate Decision», in the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Basis of Embyronic Development of the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin. Work on this project included molecular cloning, development and characterization of mouse transgenic strains, tetracycline-controlled transcriptional activation of the gene of interest using Tet-On system in vivo in mouse and in vitro in cell culture and confocal laser microscopy. Since September 2013 he joined Croatian Institute for Brain Research within School of Medicine of the University of Zagreb as a post-doc on the GlowBrain project, where he is studying the regenetative potential of the stem cells in repair of ischemic brain injury.
