In June 2013 a public procurement process for acquisition of equipment for monitoring bioluminescent and fluorescent markers (BLI) for small laboratory animals was finished. Perkin Elmer, the manufacturer elected by the process of public procurement, offered an optical instrument for in-vivo preclinical research named IVIS Spectrum Imaging. The instrument, apart from detecting bioluminescent and fluorescent signals, allows 2D and 3D views and a precise reconstruction of anatomical structures which are emitting the signal. The offer also included professional training (basic and advanced) by the authorized representative in Croatia, as well as extended warranty for 3 years.
Acquisition of the instrument is a very important step towards setting up a multimodal imaging complex comparable to reputables laboratories in Europe, as well as realization of one of the most important objectives of project GlowBrain. We also hope that this instrument will open the doors to new domestic and foreign projects and collaborations.
